Twelfth Night,
Act 3, Scene 1, line 144.

Note to Twelfth Night, 3.1.144, "for now I am your fool"

A fool's job is to please his master or mistress, no matter what. Viola/Cesario is now in a fool's position in regard to Olivia. Olivia told "Cesario" to go, and he started to go; then Olivia told him to stay, and he stayed. "Cesario" doesn't like being Olivia's fool, being subject to her every whim, but because "he" is the messenger of love from Orsino, "he" cannot offend Olivia, cannot tell her that she doesn't deserve Orsino's love, cannot tell her that her passion for "Cesario" is misguided.
