Messenger from Cyprus

Just after news has arrived at the Venetian Senate that the Turkish fleet is headed for Rhodes, a Messenger from Cyprus enters with the news that "The Ottomites, reverend and gracious, / Steering with due course towards the isle of Rhodes, / Have there injointed them with an after fleet" (1.3.33-35). He adds that Montano, Governor of Cyprus, wants the Senate to know that he's sure the Turks ("Ottomites") are planning to attack Cyprus. [Scene Summary]
