Note to Much Ado About Nothing, 2.3.255: "choke a daw withal"

Return
to
Much Ado About Nothing,
Act 2, Scene 3, line 255.
Benedick has hopefully asked if Beatrice has taken pleasure in delivering her message to him. Her witty reply is "Yea, just so much as you may take upon a knife's point and choke a daw withal." Part of the wit of this is that jackdaws feed on grains of wheat, beetles, and other such small stuff.
