Note to King Lear, 2.2.173: "Fortune, good night: smile once more; turn thy wheel!"

to
King Lear,
Act 2, Scene 2, line 173
Kent [in stocks] is hoping for a change in fortune. Fortune's wheel belongs to the goddess Fortuna, who spins it at random, changing the positions of those on the wheel — some suffer great misfortune, others gain windfalls. Fortune appears in all paintings as a woman, sometimes blindfolded, "puppeteering" a wheel."
