Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet: Texts, Contexts, and Interpretation. Ed. Jay L. Halio. Newark: U of Delaware P, 1995. 123-150.

Thesis: Halio's thesis is that "Far from being a 'bad' quarto . . . Q1 is -- as the evidence indicates -- a version of Shakespeare's original script shortened and otherwise adapted for performance . . ." (144). It's too bad he doesn't say how this could affect our perception of the text we read.

Bottom Line: Well, OK.
