From June 9 - 15, 2013, I performed verbatim searches on the first lines all 154 sonnets, using both Google and Bing. The following list shows the results of those searches.
     There were a few surprises. I expected Google to return more results than Bing, but not 10 to 200 times more, as was the case. Another surprise was that the Bing results matched my experience much more closely than the Google results did. In forty years of teaching, I have seen eleven of the first twelve poems in the Bing results anthologized repeatedly. In contrast, I am familiar with only three of the first twelve results in the Google search.

Two tips about the list:

1) "Google Rank" and "Bing Rank" are both links which will rearrange the list.

2) Each title in the list is a link to the named sonnet. Clicking one of those links will open a new window.
